ICD brings the "Made in Italy" of seven companies from Friuli to the event "Contract Contact" in Brussels
Seven are the companies which, under the auspices of the Italian Chair District, the international brand of the Chair District, will participate in the third edition of B2B "Contract Contact" in Brussels on 5 and 6 June 2013 at the impressive exhibition space Tour & Taxis .
The Friulian Area Declic-Debi, Blifase-L'abbate, BP Chairs, Cizeta, New Life, Palm and Riccardo Rivoli, are presented together in this unique event in Europe dedicated to the contract market, exposing one of their best product to thousands of workers industry such as architects, interior designers, designers and installers.
Arrmet, historic Friulian factory which has been active since the Sixties in the Chair District in Manzano, is made up by two brands: Area Declic, mainly producing outdoor chairs, and Debi, specialised in indoor furniture. Today as ever, Arrmet collections are the result of an accurate tuning process aimed at testing the feasibility and ergonomics of every model before tailor-making it according the needs of the contract and residential markets. The Elitre chair will be displayed during the “Contract Contact” event; it’s the flagship model of Area Declic designed by Philippe Bestenheider.
Daniele Venturato, CEO of Arrmet, declares: “We are delighted to take part in this event for the first time. The initiative is so sector-based that we will be able to show our contract production to other sector specialists in a very design-advanced and interesting country for our business, which has always been characterised by a high percentage of exports”.
>> ELITRE (design by Philippe Bestenheider for Area Declic) The name Elitre recalls insect wings since the structure is characterised by an organic-shaped network where two elements overlap to create a moiré pattern. Elitre is made up by a metal tube, with seat and backrest in steel mesh and it is suitable for outdoor use. The chair can also be provided with a cushion, is stackable and can be light blue, red, white and black. Elitre was first displayed during the latest edition of “Salone del Mobile di Milano” and the “Contract Contact” event in Bruxelles is its first time abroad.
Blifase and L’Abbate, both belonging to the Chair District, design and develop complete top quality collections which enhance passion for craftsmanship combined with modern industrial technologies, love for quality and accurate processing of materials. Wood, which is the main raw material for chairs, tables and accessories, is professionally processed to create unique contemporary collections for both contract and residential use. The contract sector makes up 70% of the total turnover. Blifase-L’Abbate has carried out several prestigious appointments in the contract sector, especially in France and Belgium.
Stefano L’Abbate, CEO of L’Abbate, comments on their participation: “It is not our first time in Bruxelles, but this year we have decided to take part in the event with our ICS brand since we believe in the strength of synergies. The positive feedback we received during the latest edition spurred us to be present again to create new contacts with architects and designers”.
>> LIVIA (design by Gio Ponti for L’Abbate) The chair Livia is the flagship product for L’Abbate. Designed in 1937 to furnish the “Livianum” Faculty of Humanities of the University of Padua, Livia was re-manufactured exclusively by L’Abbate in 2005 and displayed as a preview in 2006 at the Salone del Mobile di Milano. The structure is made of seasoned white beech hardwood and is available in fourteen different colours and finishings.
BP SEDIE Srl manufactures indoor chairs, table and accessories for the contract and residential markets. It lies in the heart of the well-known Chair District. The company boasts a long experience on the international market which makes up most of the company turnover. Over forty years, the company has developed a deep knowledge of the needs of the market. All manufacturing processes take place within the Friulian plant, thus products, made of wood only, can be fully customised to meet the client’s specific needs.
Martina Burlina, marketing and sales manager of BP Sedie says: “Participating in “Contract Contact” is very strategic for us since for the first time we will be able to approach the contract sector in that area where we have always been present only in the residential sector. Our target is expanding the contract market through new contacts with specialised buyers”.
>> SWING (BP SEDIE) Conceived during the 2011 Italian Workshop Design and displayed on the market for the first time at the Salone di Milano in 2012, the Swing armchair has a captivating yet elegant design, therefore it is ideal for both the contract and residential markets. The structure is made of black walnut, oak or beech wood and can be upholstered or in wood only. It is appreciated in foreign markets by architects and designers alike.
Cizeta is a solid company with a 30-year-long experience based on strong values such as wood culture, carefully crafted production and pursuit of beauty and functionality: the best Italian industrial design tradition. Technological research, flexibility in style and production, immediate availability of products, guarantee of efficiency over the years, ergonomics, design, excellent raw materials and respect for the environment are key factors for all Cizeta production, made up by seats for the most diverse communities or households.
Simone Cavassi, sales manager of Cizeta, declares: “For us the contract sector is pivotal since it accounts for most of our company turnover. We have decided to take part in the event in Bruxelles to explore a new market and we are pleased to be doing so with a delegation of ICD companies, as happened at the IMM in Cologne. I’m confident that the spirit of cooperation we shared on that occasion can be further consolidated to establish new useful contacts.
>> FUJI (design Paolo Martinig) Fuji is simply elegant and demonstrates a strong personality and harmony in its shapes. Its rounded essential lines make up a unique, solid yet light design, characterised by a wide seat and elegant legs aimed at enhancing quality materials and manufacturing for the chair to appear compact and light. All versions (chair, armchair, stools or lounge) are available in beech, oak or black walnut wood and are perfectly suitable for all traditional contract settings.
New Life is a dynamic and ever-evolving company with a thirty-year-long experience in manufacturing chairs, armchairs, tables and accessories. The company strength is its ability to manage a direct creative project where the company itself and the client are the main characters in order to create tailor-made models. Indoor furniture is the core production whose principal material is FSC-certified wood. The contract market plays a very important role for New Life as is witnessed by many appointments carried out around the world in cooperation with main international contractors to furnish the Armani Hotel in Dubai, Cartier Stores, the Mandarine Hotel in Milan and the well-known cruise ship “Queen Elisabeth”.
Andrea Costantini, sales manager of New Life, says: “For us, Belgium is an unexplored market where we now want to display our collections. We look forward to the event in Belgium to create a new consumer base within the contract sector, which accounts for almost 90% of the company turnover”.
>> EVELYNE (design New Life) Evelyne is an armchair with a strong character. Its structure is made of beech hardwood, upholstered seat, multi-layered structure with holes for straps and internal upholstering in polyurethane foam. Clients can customised the model changing fabrics and leathers and combining them. Polyurethane paint is used. The exclusive preview will take place during “Contract Contact” in Bruxelles.
Palma S.p.A was established in 1986 and since then it has been producing chairs (up to 700,000 units per year) and tables monitoring all production steps: from timber selection to the packaging of finished products. Quality stems from FSC-certified wood coming from European forests and from the manufacturing and finishing processes according to the craftsmanship tradition. Thanks to the high versatility of wood, collections can be classic or sophisticated, essential or contemporary. Exports account for 80% of the turnover. The company is increasingly willing to create new business opportunities within the contract sector.
Daniele Musig, sales manager and managing director of Palma, declares: “We are looking forward to participating in this event with other companies of the Chair District since we will have the chance to illustrate abroad our expertise in the contract sector, our main target at the moment. In fact our company has created an internal contract department to develop products to meet the specific needs of this market”.
>> OPÉRA BOHÈME (design Dario Delpin) Opéra Bohème was designed in 2009 by Dario Delpin, historic company’s collaborator. The solid structure is made of beech wood whereas the seat and the backrest are upholstered. The wide range of colours and fabrics makes Opéra Bohème available in several versions as armchair, footstool and sofa. Thanks to the classic design, with simple lines and a comfortable seat, thousands of chairs have been sold to restaurants and hotels in more than 20 countries worldwide.
Riccardo Rivoli Design was established in 2003 by the professional designer Riccardo Rivoli. The company core business is the design and the production of original indoor chairs and tables for the upper-middle contract sector. Models are a combination of craftsmanship of skilled staff and advanced technology in order to offer high quality products. Exports make up most of the turnover and products are exported mainly to Western European countries.
Riccardo Rivoli, CEO of the company, asserts: “This event is very important for us since the contract market is our core business. Moreover we are interested in particular in Belgium where we are not present at the moment, but which is one of our exporting areas. It’s a unique chance to take pride in displaying the made-in-Italy design abroad, building on the added value of the ICS brand we are part of”.
>> MARLENE (design Riccardo Rivoli) Marlene is amazing due to its versatility: it has six different shapes of seat and eleven different bases which are all interchangeable. Marlene is extremely comfortable and its elegant and contemporary style suits both traditional and modern settings. In Bruxelles the chair will be displayed in a new version which has been recently used at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Remis and that will be also used to furnish the Holiday Inn in Djion.
