The doors of the Chair District are now open to welcome under-35 designers from all over the world thanks to the 12th edition of the prestigious “Promosedia International Design Competition Caiazza Memorial Challenge”.

With the aim of promoting research and innovation, of fostering new ideas and spurring new generations of creative designers from Italy and the rest f the world, the Chamber of Commerce of Udine entrusted ASDI SEDIA – ITALIAN CHAIR DISTRICT (Agency for the Development of the Italian Chair Industrial District) with the organisation of the competition.

The Italian Chair District, one of the most important Italian and European chair manufacturing areas, lies in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia and boosts a century-long tradition in the wood furniture sector, besides supporting constant research in design and in new ideas to offer to the market.

The competition, created in the late Nineties, was named after a very important and charismatic person who played an active part in the original core of PromoSedia: engineer Ernesto Caiazza. For the new generations, he set an example of enthusiasm and resolution in achieving one's targets. The 2012/2013 edition is likely to attract many young creative people worldwide; in fact it is possible to participate
with both chairs and single components to assemble chairs, thus young international designers will be able to range over different furnishing sector thanks to their ideas and projects. Partaking in the "Promosedia International Design Competition” means partaking in an international competition of ideas which has always been the most eminent showcase of the Chair District for young designers who are willing to get in touch with hundreds of companies operating in this sector.

Past winners, besides being awarded the first prize and getting a real gratification had the opportunity to have their idea manufactured and displayed in major international fairs of the sector.
